News :Commercial Radio sets up a "Idol Drug-Free" campaign; Idols involved with drugs before can participate?

Recently young people using drugs and smoking have become a serious issue. Hong Kong entertainment industry has also once had several artistes being involved with drugs, throwing away their future out the window. For the entertainment industry's reputation, Idols expressed "SAY NO" to drugs. Commercial Radio invites a group of Idol pop singers to perform a song to reduce the level of drug use by replacing the lyrics of a song to make it an anti-drug song. As William So, Jill Vidal, Kelvin Kwan and Deep Ng have all been involved ! in drugs, would they have an opportunity to perform this anti-drug song? Would their participation be the first sign of their come back? Commercial Radio expressed that as long as the record companies can arrange it, anyone is welcomed.

Last night Commercial Radio held it's 50 anniversary dinner, the assistant general manager expressed to the Media that they have a series of big plans ahead of them. Joining with CRHK 903 Radio and Narcotics Division, they plan to set up an "Idol Drug-Free" campaign. The main focus is to invite singers to choose a song of their choice and replace the lyrics of the chorus part with their own drug-free related words and then to perform that song as the new anti-drug song. Afterwards, they plan to invite audience to re-sing that song and do a voice recording.

Not only is this campaign trying to rebuild Idol's healthy image, but also request young people to participate in the sing along, giving them an opportunity to "SAY! NO" to drugs, engraving this image deep into them. Currently ! the arti stes who agree to participate in this includes Eason Chan, Miriam Yeung, Hins Cheung and Ivana Wong.

Asked about the artistes who once were involved with drugs, would they have the chance to be part of this? Because they have changed, will this performance be the first sign of their come back? Assistant General Manager of Commercial Radio expressed: "The most important is the views of the record company, they will not have a biased view and will welcome all artistes to participate, definitely will welcome all of them." This means that artistes like Jill Vidal, Kelvin Kwan, Deep Ng and William So, all have the opportunity to sing this anti-drug song.

But will their record companies approve of this? Reporters contacted Jill Vidal's record company Amusic yesterday, the spokesperson Ms. Sum expressed that they temporarily do not have any arrangements for Jill and does not plan to allow Jill into the recording studio to record songs. She must first take cl! asses and lead a better life before there can be considerations. Whether there will be an opportunity to sing in the future, it is currently at a premature stage.

As for Kelvin Kwan's record company Universal Music Group, the spokesperson Mr. Wong expressed that they did not receive an invitation from Commerical Radio yet, so they have not made any arrangements. Currently Kelvin is in Hong Kong working hard in learning guitar, composing songs and if there is a chance for a comeback, there is no confirmation.
